What is a cesspool?
Cesspools form a shallow underground system where sanitary waste is disposed of. There are a variety of cesspool types, but the most common one is a concrete cylinder that features an open bottom and perforated sides.
The cesspool acts as a deposit for sanitary waste from sinks, toilets, washing machines, etc., and once deposited the waste effectively seeps out. It should be noted that while cesspools process the flow of the disposal of sanitary waste, they do not treat the waste.
